On 16th April 2016, the first Decathlon store opened its doors in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
A country tailor-made for outdoor sports
Slovenes will be greeted by a 2,700m² specialist sports store at the heart of the country’s biggest retail centre. That same day, Decathlon products will also be available online on the decathlon.si website. The inaugural store has been eagerly anticipated by the Slovenes, avid sports enthusiasts keen to sample its value price products for activities such as hiking, cycling, hunting, fishing and team sports. The country’s geography is particularly suited to outdoor sports and nature.
A second store by the end of the year
In order to expand in Slovenia, Decathlon has called upon technical teams from France, and particularly teams from neighbouring countries with pre-existing stores, such as Croatia, Italy and Hungary. The manager of the country’s first store, for example, is an Italian employee. A second store could open in the country by the end of the year.
